Securing Your Gun Safe: How to Bolt It Down for Added Security

*We have found that a screw in style anchor such as a Tapcon or Simpson Strong Tie is a stronger more superior bolt to drop or wedge anchors. Furthermore, these type of anchors remove easier if the safe needs to be moved.
Choose the Right Location:
Select a secure location in your home to place the gun safe. Identify where you want to bolt it down, as it will be there for a while.
Leveling:
It is good practice to level a safe so the door does not swing open or closed. This is especially important in the garage as most garages are slightly sloped for water run off. We preffer composite shims to wood as they will not degrade over time.
Drill Holes:
Lift up the floor boards or remove the plastic cap covers to expose pre-drilled hole in the bottom of the safe. If the safe is small and you cannot fit the drill inside the safe you will have to mark the spots for drilling. Use a rotary hammer with a masonry bit to drill holes into the concrete floor. Make sure the holes are deep enough to accommodate the length of the concrete bolts. Vacuum holes to remove all concrete dust.
Insert Bolts:
Insert the 1/2″ or 3/8″ concrete bolts (depending on your preference and the size of your safe) into the drilled holes.
Secure the Safe: Tighten down with ratchet and socket or an impact gun until snug.
Test the Security:
After securing the bolts, test its stability by trying to move and check for any rocks. It should remain firmly in place without any wobbling or shifting.
